TÍR DHÚCHAIS: Return (2023)

Performer: Mirah Kellc Moriarty

Photographer: Rodrigo Esteva

Location: Galway, Ireland

Tír Dhúchais means ancestral homeland in Irish Gaelic. In this ritual performance, Mirah traced her father’s lineage and honored those who were forcibly removed or displaced from Ireland over centuries of colonization.  Her father's name, originally Ó Muircheartaigh, means descendant of the sea-warrior.  She was the first in her family to return.
